Triton Technology manufactures the Dye-Trak® 'F' fluorescent microspheres. Dye-Trak® 'F' fluorescent microspheres are a cost effective alternative to Molecular Probes FluoSpheres®. Dye-Trak® 'F' fluorescent microspheres sell for about half the price of FluoSpheres®, but they are equivalent to them, as demonstrated by the University of Washington Fluorescent Microsphere Resoursce Center (FMRC) Dye-Trak 'F' validation .
Fluorescent microspheres provide a sensitive non-radioactive method of measuring regional blood flow by dye extraction. After recovery of the microspheres from the harvested tissue samples, the dye is extracted and quantified by fluorescence spectrophotometry. Fluorescent microspheres have been well documented in the literature.
If there is a need to measure more than four time points when using Dye-Trak® 'F' colors, two of the Molecular Probes FluoSphere® colors (Red and Crimson) can be added to the color pallet to measure six colors with no necessity to do mathematical spill-over correction. Dollar for dollar, this is the most cost effective combination of six fluorescent colors.
